The Teach Peace project has three general objectives:

  1. Creating a basic peace education training programme that can be implemented in a wide variety of adult education and other educational contexts in Europe and beyond.
  2. Improving adult educators’ competences for teaching learners skills for resolving and avoiding conflicts.
  3. Promoting peace as well as the civic engagement and participation that are essential to it.

The main activities of the project are the following:

  • Researching adult educators’ and trainers’ needs regarding peace education for adults: This will involve identifying what knowledge, skills, and resources educators need in order to effectively teach peace education.
  • Developing a basic peace education programme for adults: Based on the research, a comprehensive training programme will be designed that can be used by adult educators across Europe.
  • Creating tools for trainers: Practical tools will be created for trainers to help them train adult educators in the principles and practices of peace education.
  • Creating tools for adult educators without specialised training in peace education: These tools will help educators who do not have specialized peace education training to teach conflict resolution and promote peace.
  • Disseminating information about the project, its results, and promoting peace: This will involve sharing the project’s findings and educational tools across Europe and encouraging the adoption of peace education practices.

The project will produce the following four key results:

  1. PR1: A report on adult educators’ and trainers’ views on the needs of peace education.
  2. PR2: A basic peace education training programme.
  3. PR3: A guide for trainers in the field of peace education for training adult educators using PR2.
  4. PR4: A guide for adult educators without specialised training for training adult learners using PR2.

The project will ensure sustainability through the creation of resources that can be utilized by educators even after the project ends. Teach Peace will also foster long-term networks among educators and peacebuilding practitioners across Europe, ensuring continued collaboration and knowledge exchange.
